CBD Oil — Are the Benefits Claimed Too Good To Be True?

Many of us, especially those who suffer from chronic pain, excessive anxiety, cancer-related symptoms, and/or difficult-to-treat neurological illnesses. It would welcome a miracle cure-all these days.

It’s no surprise, then, that CBD oil appears in our search results. Can we, however, rely on CBD oil to have the desired effect on our symptoms? Paul Terpeluk, DO, an internal medicine specialist, explains why CBD oil may not be as helpful as we’d want.

What is CBD?

The cannabis sativa plant contains about 100 chemical components, including cannabidiol, or CBD. THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), not CBD, is the main psychoactive element in cannabis that makes you feel good (cannabidiol).

CBD is derived from hemp, a form of cannabis plant that contains less THC and so has no intoxicating properties. CBD oil is just a combination of CBD extract and an oil, such as coconut oil, applied topically.

It’s vital to note that the manufacture and sale of CBD products in the United States has been permitted on a federal level since the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill, as long as they contain less than.3% THC.  However, certain state laws still make it unlawful.

Dr. Terpeluk further points out that the market for CBD products has become oversaturated, with everything from bath bombs to candy, lotions, creams, tinctures, and oil – none of which are FDA-approved and may not be 100 percent KOI Natural CBD.

The FDA has only approved one cannabis-derived and three cannabis-related items as of mid-December 2021.

“The bulk of CBD products are not subject to regulatory scrutiny,” says Dr. Terpeluk. “Most CBD that you’re buying is tainted with other cannabinoids, including THC, unless they have a strong marketing campaign and quality control that states it’s 100 percent Best CBD oil.

What are some of the benefits of CBD?

However, some studies have shown that the benefits of pure CBD may have a wide range of favorable impacts. It’s vital to consider our body’s endocannabinoid system, a complex combination of enzymes, neurotransmitters, and receptors that plays a key part in the development of our central nervous system, to fully comprehend those benefits.

Pain, motor control, memory, hunger, inflammation, and other processes are all regulated by this system. We may be able to better understand how CBD affects a range of illnesses and disorders if we investigate its effects in these specific areas.

Helps with neurological-related disorders

The FDA has approved Epidiolex as a treatment for a number of epilepsy disorders, including Duvet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. According to various case studies, CBD may aid patients who are resistant to anti-epileptic drugs. Dr. Terpeluk says that epilepsy occurs when a threshold in the brain becomes excitatory, causing a seizure. “CBD contributes to that.”

According to additional research, CBD has neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory properties, and may be useful in the treatment of multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease symptoms.

It may assist with pain relief

CBD interacts with neurotransmitters in the central nervous system, perhaps reducing pain from inflammation, arthritis, and nerve injury (peripheral neuropathy). Following 4 weeks of using CBD topical oil, those with nerve injury in the lower half of their bodies experienced a significant reduction in acute, stab pain.

“If you take it in an uncontrolled manner, you have no idea how much is in there,” Dr. Terpeluk says, “and you have no concept how it affects you outside of your specific discomfort.”

It may help with anxiety and mood disorders

Anxiety and mood disorders, such as depression or post-traumatic stress disorder, can have a major influence on your everyday life and contribute to physical and mental stress, which can lead to other underlying diseases including sleep disturbances, high blood pressure, chronic pain, and heart disease.

It’s still too early to know the full extent of CBD’s anti-anxiety and anti-psychotic effects, although several studies appear to indicate varying positive outcomes. In a trial of 57 males who took either oral CBD or a placebo 90 minutes before the exam, researchers discovered that a 300-mg dose of koi naturals cbd considerably reduced social anxiety during a simulated public speaking test.

While there are a range of therapies for anxiety and mood disorders available, including talk therapy, counseling, and prescription drugs, Dr. Terpeluk believes the most essential thing is to get to the base of the anxiety you’re experiencing.

It might help with cancer-related symptoms

Chemotherapy-induced nausea, vomiting, and weight loss may alleviated by CBD. The FDA has approved three cannabis-related medications to help people with AIDS reduce their symptoms and enhance their appetite. These medications all contain some THC or synthetic THC and are not solely CBD.

However, other studies suggest that CBD can help shrink tumors and slow the spread of malignant cells in skin cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, and other cancers. More human clinical trials, like with other areas of research, are needed to fully understand on various types of cancer.

What are the side effects or risks of CBD?

Dr. Terpeluk adds there’s no way of knowing the purity of CBD oil and other koi naturals cbd purchased online or from a local vendor because it could be contaminated with other cannabinoids like the harmful delta-8 or THC.

“It has a mystical quality to it.” Dr. Terpeluk warns, “It’s not as harmless as you assume. If you take CBD off the market, there was a decent possibility you’ll test positive for THC because it contains THC.”

CBD has the potential to interact with a wide range of drugs, including pain relievers, antidepressants, antipsychotics, and others. It may also have a number of negative consequences, such as:

  • Issues with coordination.
  • Dizziness.
  • Drowsiness or fatigue.
  • Diarrhea.

What is the best piece of advice?

Before using CBD oil or other koi naturals cbd, consult your healthcare professional to see. Whether they are safe for you or they will interact negatively with any medications you are already taking.
