WPC Certificate is a mandatory business registration for those who want to import wireless products for sale in India.
The process to obtain this certificate, more popularly known as Equipment Type Approval or ETA license, is quite difficult. And even when you have it, there are multiple things that can make the DOT take it away from you – cancelling your registration.

Getting the license based on falsified application
Even though the online process of WPC ETA certificate is enough to deal with any errors, there are times when the system can’t see all of them. In those instances, it’s easy for certain applicants to falsify their data and obtain the license. While you can obtain the license this way, you can’t retain it.

As per the rule specified by the Wireless Planning and Coordination wing, at any time, the wing can decide to come and check your import premises and review the terms on which the license is issued.
When that happens, all the details based on which you were issued the license earlier is rechecked. There is a high chance in this case that you’d get caught.
Not intimating the DOT of the changes made to the wireless equipment
Whenever can’t import a new variant of the wireless product for which you have obtained the ETA certificate without informing the Wireless Planning and Coordination wing first.
Without the approval, the wireless equipment is seen as a new product that you have no authorization to import. While it’s the frequency for which you get the ETA approval, that can change in new versions of the product. Thus, you need to inform the Department of Telecommunication of any changes made to the original product.
Not being inspection ready
Under the regulations on which you obtain ETA certificate of import, the DOT reserves the right to inspect your import or manufacture premises at any time that it wants. And when it does, you won’t receive prior information of said inspection.
So you see, you need to always be ready to get your premises inspected. If you get complacent even for a single second, the DOT will catch you upon it. It might not call you out for your negligence right away, but you’ll then be closely monitored.
When that happens, anything imperfect that you do would be used as the basis of cancellation of your ETA license.
